Emergency Donation for Land

We, Cindy Hedrick and Skip Yeager, did something in 2006 that most would call crazy and some would envy. We sold 2 businesses, a lake house, and a beach house, picked up and moved to South Carolina to pursue our dream of building a sanctuary for abused, neglected, and unwanted exotic animals. That is how SC-CARES was born.

Suddenly that dream and the animals' futures are threatened by the sale of land immediately adjoining our property. If SC-CARES doesn't control that land, it will severely impact our ability to accept animals in the future. We must raise $400,000 in 60 days to insure the sanctuary survives. Simply stated, our goal is 40,000 (or more) new friends willing to help us with a $10 (or more) donation, or 4,000 with $100. Could you please help?

To build SC-CARES we bought a 25-acre piece of a larger property whose long-time owner was enthusiastic about the sanctuary. Now three-years later he has been forced to sell the remaining land that borders SC-CARES on two sides. The owner knows that the sale of the property would be devastating for us. He already has another offer, but wants to give us a chance. Time is of the essence.

The resident animals are stressed by unusual activity so close to them. What we really fear will happen is hunting. A recent episode of gunfire on the property broke the peaceful routine and sent the horses, wolves, and deer into a panic.

A facility, like SC-CARES, is needed more than even we imagined. We, and our team of volunteers, need the support of new friends, like you, because we must protect it and insure it survives.

Be sure to signup for our newsletter. Our social network links are on the website. SC-CARES is a 501(c)3, non-profit charity. All donations are tax-deductible.

Help us care for these innocent animals, because people created their situation and only people can improve it. Please help with a little or a lot.

Donate by mail to SC-CARES, 236 Abbeville Dr. Georgetown, SC 29440, and write "count me in", include your email address on your check.

For this to work we need and hope you will pass this message on to ALL of your contacts--even if you do not feel they would be interested, they may know someone who would be. Please consider adding a personal appeal in the subject line instead of leaving the ‘FWD…’.

SC CARES is PERMANENTLY CLOSED
Tuesday, December 31, 2019 • Time:
SC-CARES has been helping animals for over 13 years here in SC and for many years before moving to SC. It was an accumulation of circumstances, a perfect storm, that is forcing us to close. Considering Skips serious health issues (multiple myeloma cancer), our physical and emotional stress, fluctuating financial and vet support, we couldnt see a light at the end of this tunnel. We did not see a way for the sanctuary to continue in the event one or both of us encountered a crisis. We decide for the animals sake we needed to get ahead of things, before their lives are impacted from any sort of crisis situation.
